The Jake Leg Jug Band bring you the authentic sounds of 1920s and '30s America - jazz, blues, gospel, ragtime - and add their own twist. The band specialise in songs of murder, betrayal, gambling, liquor and redemption.
The group are extremely productive live and in the studio, frequently appearing at top jazz festivals and clubs across the UK. Their latest album Goodbye Booze is a commemoration of 100 years since Prohibition hit the USA, and has been rated highly by critics.
Evoking a bygone era with both their sound and look, at a JLJB gig you'll always have a good laugh and you might even learn something! You can expect to hear long-forgotten songs played on a range of vintage instruments including washboard, harmonica, kazoo and - of course - the humble jug!
"Smokin'... the band mesh together like a well-oiled machine. This troupe can play!"
"There isn’t a weak number so you can dip in anywhere and pick out a little delight. Good fun and lovely to listen to."
"A wide selection of styles including jazz and vaudeville... nice to hear additional instruments including exemplary harmonica."
BLUES IN THE SOUTH
"A fine feast of good-timing jug band music, blues, vintage jazz and hokum with a nicely humorous attitude."
